Battle of the Year commonly referred to as BOTY, is an annual international break dancing series that began in Hannover, Germany in 1990. Regional qualifying tournaments, also known as preliminaries, are held worldwide culminating the World Finals event, which is held in Germany. Battle of the Year is widely regarded as the "World Cup of B-Boying.”
The 2008 Battle of the Year World Finals will be held in Hannover, Germany on Saturday 18th October 2008. Qualifiers for the world finals will begin in May which will run through September and for the first time; there will be a BOTY Africa regional preliminary which will feature dance crews from Senegal, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Morocco, Tunisia and Nigeria.
Battle of the Year (BOTY) Nigeria is the Pre-BOTY World Finals competition a one of a kind hip-hop event that will be held in Nigeria to produce Hip-hop Dance acts (Popularly referred to as B-boys) that will represent Nigeria in the BOTY African regional finals in Dakar, Senegal on Saturday 19th July 2008 where a winner who will represent West Africa in the World Finals will emerge.
